If you can only go to one conference in a given year. Then you should go to QCon in London. It’s simply the best, better than all the rest…

Thought I let you carry on the song. But seriously it’s a great conference, firstly it’s in a fantastic location, that’s easy to get to, and is provided by multiple transport links, so you’re open to multiple choices when commuting.

Secondly, the food is great, there is ample choice and everyone is catered for with the quality being right up there.

The planning that goes into this conference must be a massive undertaking, as there are multiple tracks that all circle around an area of interest, with at least 5 different talks taking place at once. This ensures that there is always an interesting option for a talk for you to attend. There are even sessions that are more like workshops which are a lot of fun, where everything is a lot less formal and you can participate.

Again like all conferences, we developers like swag and generally anything that’s free. QCon is no different, all the big players are there wanting you to buy their tools or get locked into their platform, so they try to buy your soul for a t-shirt. It could work, don’t blame them for trying, all you have to do is give them an email address or let them scan your badge.
